As the owner of CrossFit By Design I am always divided through winter
On one hand it’s tough because people drop off
But it’s boss to see the results who stick around when times get tough
So the question is… how do you become that dedicated person who sticks around?
Here are four habits you can put in place that will keep you on track with your training
1) The 5 second rule
In her book, Mel Robbins talks about how there is only one rule when it comes to success and productivity… you’re never going to feel like it
If you only did the things you don’t feel like doing, you’d have everything you ever wanted
It works like this
Next time you are in bed and the alarm is going off for you to hit the 6am class, count backwards from five and get out of bed
If any more time passes and you let your excuses come flooding in you will be lost

2) Prepare
This one seems simple, and it is
Get your clothes ready the night before
Make the process of going to the gym so easy you don’t even have to think about it
If you are in the morning classes have your clothes layed out the night before along with a glass of water
Wake up, get dressed, drink water, go move
If you are in the night classes, make sure you have your bag packed and have your meals planned out for the day, everything you need to get you to the gym firing on all cylinders
Remember the 5 second rule, you are never going to feel like it.
Don’t put up any road blocks for yourself, make it easy
3) Hang out with other motivated people
You are the average of the five people you hang out with the most, so choose carefully
It is important to find a group of people that care about your development and notice when you don’t show up
Keeping you motivated to come in on days when you don’t feel like it is important
But you also want people you can have a laugh with and learn from well keep you coming in no mater how cold it is
4) Eat quality food
If you eat like crap, you will feel like crap, and voila! an excuse not to go to the gym
If you are unsure exactly what I mean by good food then hit up your coach
I won’t go into to much depth here but here is some quick advice
Eat meats and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch, and NO sugar and you will be good to hook and ready to workout
Bonus tip)
Get started my friends
There is no such thing as the perfect time or the perfect conditions
Don’t let a little bit of cold weather rob you of your goals, you’re stronger than that
